Okay, so I bought a bundle from MacHeist and in among the useful apps are a few games. Normally I don't bother with games, but my little nephews visit occasionally and they're paid for (the games, not the nephews) so I might as well have a look. The instructions say
To redeem your application, first download and launch Steam. Then launch the steam app and go to the Library > Games menu at the top of the window. Simply choose 'Activate Product on Steam' and follow the onscreen instructions.
OK download Steam, mount dmg file, drag out Steam.app, double-click on Steam.app, go to Library menu on the window ...
There is no window. No amount of cmd-tabbing, cmd-tilde-ing, or rightclicking on the dock item reveals a window. Steam has a menu with one item: Steam
Steam > Services
Steam > Hide Steam
Steam > Hide Others
Steam > Show All (greyed out)
Steam > Quit Steam
And that's IT. Obviously something went wrong. Re-download, start from scratch. Nope, exactly the same results. It seems that gamers live in a different dimension from the rest of us ... Go back to the steam website and try to find instructions among the game adverts. No go.
