Steam not wokring for anyone else ATM?

Just installed some steam games and the updates were not coming down local for me at least not all of it, trying to get it to come down local had me messing around for quite some time and now it looks like nothing's working at all. The updates won't come down from international either.

So steam problem or SA internet problem or both or me? Working for anyone else?

Or maybe wokring for anyone else?

Steam is working fine for me right now. Just finished a round of Left 4 Dead.

You might try removing or renaming the clientregistry.blob file in your Steam folder, and relaunching Steam. Its fixed issues for me in the past, and is generally the first thing suggested on the Steam forums.

Ja, I did that just know when it was telling me my ticket has expired, but it seems that I have to re-do 15mb of steam client updates everytime (it did just now).

I guess I will have to try it again though.

It's definately running very badly here (the connection to steam), before I was able to log-in fine and now it is taking ages. Websites seem fine though.

EDIT: Seems a bit better now, but I can't get the content to download over local using RouteSentry. Somehow I don't think it will work over plain local only at all.

A shameless double post but I need someone to help me if they can.

I finally got my games installed from the retail discs, but it will not update over my local only account using RouteSentry. RouteSentry is working fine otherwise as far as I can see.

Steam is working ok, it's just not coming from local. Has anyone else had to add an IP to their RS localroutes file or something, I had to do that when this site stopped working on local as it's ip had changed AFAIK.

It was such a pain in the A to get the games installed from the discs at first, when I finally got it working it was downloading some initial bit from local and international at the same time before it started using the DVDs.

So I'm at the point where the games are installed but they need some updating before I can play, and as I said it won't use my local to do this update. Does the initial update have to come from the main steam servers or something like that?

If anyone has some ideas it would be great, I might just try re-installing the whole shebang again though.

From reading some other forums I think it may not be coming down local because the local servers are not up to date. Can't know for sure but it kind of makes sense. Still if anyone has any ideas shout.

As far as I can tell I have never connected to the local IS content server. Not sure if it is not fully up to date or if there is something else I might need to configure.

I've asked in various places what the ip or name of the server is so I can check, but nothing has come of it.

Well I think this sucks, there really is apparently a server http://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/ click on view individual server stats the isgaming server is there.

But the fact that we can't even download from it, wtf? It does appear that other steam servers internationally aren't up to date either, that's how I was speculating about our local one, here there is a bit of talk on that http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1046725.html.

They say that it's up to Steam to update the servers? In whatever case, why aren't they up to date? It makes it completely pointless for there to even be a local one. They should let you see where you are downloading from and actually specify a specific server IMO. That would mean they actually have to do some work though and update the damn things I guess.

If there's anyone who actually has before or can currently download from the local server properly please let us know.
