Hi all,

This could be a rather noobish question but I need to ask it anyway. I am sitting at the office browsing the Steam specials and I want to buy a game. My question is do I need to purchase the game from the pc that I will be playing it on? I'm sort of assuming that once it is purchased, it will start to download and obviously I don't want it downloading to my work machine. Or can I purchase it here and when I fire my system up at home, initiate the download from there?

Thanks

Once purchase is complete it asks whether you want to download it, so no, you don't have to.

They're bound to your account, not a specific PC, so just make sure you're logged in with the same account you use at home. And no, the games won't download automatically, in fact you don't even need to use the Steam client to buy games, you can do it from the website as well.

Ok cool, thanks.

Looking at grabbing Serious Sam III. Was a big fan of the second one and hopefully the major gibbitude is back in the 3rd installment!

I just purchased the Prince of Persia collection that's currently on special using the Steam Android app. Intend to download it once I get home. So yeah, you can purchase stuff from other PCs or phones, just make sure that your password information remains safe though.

Steam servers usually get overloaded during sale time.

This is quite a handy app (will require validation first time you use it). In bed this morning and bought a game, voted, browsed specials, etc. Very neat. Says it will download game to my desktop pc. Nice :)

The last day only starts tonight. That's usually where the biggest discounts are.
