Please somebody help me because i'm getting really sick of this ****. Every single time there is a TF2 update steam ends up downloading half the ****ing game.A 100mb update ends up being 4gb i have to redownload. This just happened again i now have to do 1.6gb again, i'm on a 384 line which is shaped to hell and this will take 2 days. I was told to backup the game in case it happens again, so i did which wasted another hour. SO i say **** this let me restore the backup, nothing happens, not a single ****ing thing. I run the exe cursor flashes thats it. I try from steam i choose the folder click select then next, nothing. What a steaming pile of **** steam is. Oh and i tried validating game cache in case that would help, but of course it reaches 100% and stays there for hours downloading merrily whatever the **** it is downloading.

Calm down. It states it needs to download 4-8gb, but the actual download often ends up being far less.

Get yourself some WA cap & set it up to only download from their servers. (See their forum for details). The you'll get full line speed & you can do the update in 11.7 hours. Plus it doesn't chow your cap either.

Don't use the built in backup tool, just copy the files straight from the steamapps folder. In the case of TF2 you're looking for .gcf files. Takes 5 mins tops to make a backup.

If all else fails just find a friend who has it already & just copy the .gcf files over.

It shouldn't be 4 - 8gb though,i know it won't download that much, normally half or so. But with crappy connections the updates do mess the game up. There's so many threads on the steam forums with this problem and not a single fix. I should've just copied the folder :(

Edit:The game worked fine yesterday until the latest update, so i don't understand what you mean it states it needs to download 4 - 8gb?

I have not played TF2 in two weeks. The last time I had to wait for a massive update. Sometimes it gets annoying. Just tried to play right now and its bloody updating!!:mad:

Yip,steam is not south africa friendly, theres an update every 2nd day it seems and it just does more harm than good, for me at least. People with 4mbit and higher probably don't care cos it hardly wastes their time.
