BMW-Part only R9000.00
Carnetics refurbishment of existing rack with new seals etc. R4500.00 . I must confirm warranty period with them.

Have any of you done a replacement or refurbishment recently? Where and how much? I got a e46 sedan.

Its better to go original for a nice rack.Used ones tend to hang a bit loose from the dash.

The used ones tend to droop a little lower than the average driving height ultimately ruining your steering pleasure.

a new one will be basically made of some metal and rubbers, pretty much the same way the old one will be refurbished so I dont follow you BOYAH.

How old is you car? Is it not still on motor plan or did you not take one?

A friend of mine had his gear box replaced recently on MP & didn't cost him.

There, as with car parts, I don't have the slightest issue with a decent refurb.

But it just doesn't drive the same.. And you can't help but worry if someone has driven harder than you before..

Sorry dude when i saw the word rack i got a bit naughty.Another option is to check the scrapyards as there will be tons of BMW parts for this model. If you can get one for a grand and have it refurbished and fitted yourself for another 2 grand thats will be quite a saving.I know a guy in Joburg who is a BMW expert that can help with parts- pm me if you're interested.
