Steers vs Burger King

Was asking colleagues at the office if they wanted anything. They went all gaga for wanting to try BK.

So I tweeted them. They Insta-replied that the lines were crazy, about an hour's wait.

Shelved that idea.

God damn! Sitting waiting on order. Then the penny drops that I forgot the bacon.

She's an imposing mistress for sure.

And after the large double thick shake - I'm having to keep my posture in a laid back state :p

Good:
All round filling and flavourful experience.

Not so good:
Not so fresh bun.
Patties were well done - I almost wanted to ask them at the counter to do it medium - but wasn't sure if that was a thing that happened at Steers.
I couldn't squeeze any juice out of the patty.
But the ground meat did have its traditional good Steers flavour.

Let down:
The Shake - wtf the "Double Thick" is for, I don't know.
Its not.
There's a lot of foam/air in it - but its not thicker than any other shake.
I've had double thick shakes at (I forget the name of the diner themed restaraunt) and that was "Vriet en vra nie weer nie" kinda shakes.

I need a minute... [burp]

Looks decent fo sure! Might have to start with the normal king before this. I'm obviously not at your level s&b.

Laaitie been suggesting BK. I've been ignoring. Lines too long. Nooooo.
 
Am I understanding right that the BK that recently opened here does not sell bacon?

uuuuuhm....a BK without bacon is not a BK.....BLT?....do they call it just LT then?
 
Anyone know what are the wait times like yesterday or today? was thinking of going today or tomorrow, but don't want to spend all day in line.
 
Last night drove past at 7.30 and the line was right across the square. Every available muslim family is probably going to make a day outing to BK. makes a nice change from the beach

Well they do have to get their BK experience in before the Halaal certificate is removed...
 
Jeez, why are these people so obsessed that they would queue an hour for BK? I went to Nando's tonight and the queue was 5 people deep so i left and went to Steers which had no queue :p Had that 'Awesome' deal again for R29.95. I think they gave me a smaller chips this time. And I had the milkshake straight after the burger and chips... then i felt sick from the sugar rush.

Because 1. Ramadan is approaching in July and they'll have no burgers for a month. That means no lines for the rest of us and 2. The Halaal cert may be yanked anytime and they want to taste so they can one day put their great grandkids on their knees and tell them of the epic time they were allowed a burger before the Infidels unleashed the fearsome power of the Pig.
