Just for interest sake I did a search on stellenbosch wug's and got to SCN.

They make mention of Inetkey - some sort of Internet access to SUN students.

Can the public gets access to if for a fee?

What is shared on the SCN?

I highly doubt the public will be able to use it. The internet usage gets billed to your student account.

No, it is not open for the public as far as I know.
You need a student number to log onto inetkey, and this intun gives you access to the internet. You will be able to get access to the inrtanet of the university, but I doubt if that is what you are looking for.
SCN will give you access to varsity things, and maybe some sort of DC community, but I doubt that.

As said above, it's definitely not open to the public as everything is linked to your student number and your student login on the PCs.

I am sure SCN has a DC server, just not exactly sure what's on it.

The SCN does have a DC server, but it is only a chat hub. No file sharing is allowed and it is enforced by university firewalls.
You shouldn't even be able to access the university intranet, because your MAC has to be registered and assigned an IP to be able to connect.

Guess you could use linux and spoof a MAC address and find out an IP for that MAC address. You could do that, but don't.
