Stephen Trilling is senior vice president of Security Technology and Response at Symantec Corporation. In this role, Trilling oversees security content solutions and various technology components across the consumer and enterprise portfolio. A leading expert on Internet security issues, Trilling has appeared on numerous national television and radio programs, including 60 Minutes, Nightline on ABC, The Today Show on NBC, The Early Show on CBS, The NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, The Fox News Channel, and National Public Radios All Things Considered. He has been quoted extensively in the global press and also speaks regularly at conferences and seminars throughout the world. In addition, Mr. Trilling has published many technical papers on virus-related issues.
Prior to his current role with Security Technology and Response, Trilling was the vice president of Research and Advanced Development at Symantec where he oversaw internally funded research, Advanced Concepts, university research and government research. He has also served as director of research for Symantec Security Response, previously named Symantec AntiVirus Research Center (SARC), which is a worldwide team responsible for adding new antivirus technologies to Symantec's complete range of award winning Norton AntiVirus products.
Trilling began his career with Symantec in 1995 as a senior software developer on the Norton Utilities team, working on the first versions of Norton Utilities for Windows 95 and Windows NT. His work in the antivirus field began as a senior developer on the Norton AntiVirus team, before taking on his more recent positions in the company.
Prior to joining Symantec, Trilling had a career as a stand-up comedian. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Yale University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
