I want to buy a second hand car private.

My issue is what is the process for the licensing and registration fees and how much does it cost?

Most banks have a private finance offering. They can facilitate the entire deal for you at a fee.

Car dealers can also facilitate. They normally charge around R5000.

I got the cash.

Proof of ownership is 9/10 the of the law so if I pay the guy and if he doesn't want to fill in his forms I have a problem.
Also I need to check that the car is in good condition as it has 90K km and nothing serious like crack in the engine but AA autobay is too expensive 3.5% both sides. I will probably go to mechanic to help me out on this to save me costs.

Mostly Indian guys that are selling the car I am looking at so chance the cars were raced. They are not the most honest people when it comes to selling cars but they ask less.

R5k just to register the car? That is insane. Where did you get your figures from? Those guys that charge that are baas Ted's!

Heard the figure a few years ago. Not sure what it is now.

Point is places like AA autobay ie. dealer facilitators charge you a big chump of change and if you buy a car worth 100K it is not worth is.

Are there any facilitators (not finance) that is 2K or less for a 100K car?

AA provides a service to perform a bumber to bumber technical examination and will report to you on the state of everything in the car, its about 1.5k ...checkout www.aa.co.za call them on 0861 033 572

I just can't believe someone will charge that much.

I worked for a second hand dealer and it was about R1500. That was R500 for registration (more or less) and R1k for me. For my work.
