Steve Woz hates on Android, praises WP7

Fandroids must be a tad oversensitive because I don't see any hatred of Android being expressed by the Woz.

Indeed.... funny closing comment;

"Wrong. iPhone is my favorite phone. I did give my opinion that the Windows 7 phone had superior visual appearance and operation cues that were also more attractive. In my opinion, it sets the mark for user interface. I would recommend it over my Android phones given that it doesn’t yet have the breadth of apps. I surmise that Microsoft hired someone from Apple and put money into having a role in the UI and appearance of some key apps. I also surmised that Steve Jobs might have been reincarnated at MS due to a lot of what I see and feel with this phone making me think of a lot of great Apple things."

Edit: No Android hate... just appreciation for the WP7 user experience.

I also teehee'd at him saying he has solved the iPhone multitasking thing by using 2 iPhones, so he can talk on the one and do another thing on the other :D .

Nokia need to pump this phone, sales are slipping big time for them. I still feel they have missed with this phone. They really needed something to make people "want" it. You look at a brand new iPhone and you really get that desire to get it. You look at the top of the range Androids and you get the same feeling. This doesn't illicit that response. It is as if they took the 3GS as their standard and not the next iPhone to come out or the S3. High DPI display and more RAM, really make the phone perform out of this world. And then the design, to me it is kitsch. An iPhone 4 still looks sharp today, same can be said for the S2. I think if Nokia went with a brushed aluminium case, the entire thing, front sides and back, and made the bezel a bit thinner and the edges less harsh they would have had something eye-catching. Something that illicites the "want" factor.

Well, it's selling out - so I wouldn't really call that slipping. Unless you are meaning their sales over all their phones.

Read Woz's book and you'll realise his pretty tech agnostic - he loves good design for it's own sake.

I have an Android Phone and Tablet - why? 'cos I like the ability to tweak and tinker and customise the wazoo out of it.

Do any of my Android devices that I use every day come close to the sleekness, slickness and flow of my SO's 4s and Ipad2 - not a chance! What's even worse is that the Android devices do not integrate as well into the enterprise eg. Junos Pulse (just works on iPad allowing secure link; on Android - pfft); MS Lync / Office Communicator (just works on iPad; Android - pfft); LogMeIn so I can work on home pc remotely (no prize for guessing right, yes, Ipad - just works; Android - pfft).

The list goes on...and yet, I still prefer my Android Tab (live widgets, USB port, MicroSD card, customisable as anything)

Let's not fool ourselves - our favourite OS is very, very rough around the edges - we shouldn't be surprised - it's not being curated by single minded obsessives (unlike IOS)

As for WP7, really looking forward to playing with it - it should be smooth, it's had both IOS and Android to learn from (in addition, never forget that MS learnt a lot from their Zune experiment - Google never had that for Android).

Await a decent Windows based tablet (not the cruddy self defense weapons currently on the market - big, thick, heavy, ugly running non-tablet optimised operating system) with great anticipation (for the enterprise features if nothing else).

Dude. You're getting it all wrong.

Android is about freedom. Just plug in your phone to your pc and drag and drop.

I really don't care about the other crap you wrote there, in fact, I didn't even read it.

If you understand Android, you'll know what freedom means.

Sigh....how do you expect to be taken seriously with a comment like the one above

11,640 posts and this is the best you can come up with.

Just because you love something doesn't mean that you don't recognise that it has real flaws

I have a few Android devices, can't say that I have found ANY flaws.

OTOH, my iOS devices have a lot of flaws, I have started giving them away, and they won't be replaced.

I am open WRT WP7, I still regard my HP PDA with Windows Mobile 2003 SE as being better than a iPhone Touch 4G 32GB with iOS.

However, can't see myself going back to Nokia, got burnt too much (last Nokia was E72 - good phone, but a really cludgy interface).

LOL. Pwnt.

Well, Nokia didn't have a say in the interface, so that's a badly thought out excuse :P The only part of the phone that is from Nokia is the actual hardware, which you said you liked.
And there are lots of other manufacturers, that sadly are not available here :(
