Hi

Ok, im having some trouble with my connection to VC. I have a pay-as-you-go SIM that I use exclusively to connect to the Internet when I am not at home.

I had not been using this for some time, so yesterday I buy R300 worth of vouchers, put it on the phone and change it to a 1G data bundle.

This morning when I try to connect I get a 619 error (using bluetooth through my phone to the PC). If I put my voice sim in it works fine.

So I call 155, they tell me its the sim...

Over lunch I dash of to the closest VC shop for a simswap. Then I find out it takes up to 12 hours to activate the data services on the sim, so still no connectivity.

OK BREATHE ONE TWO THREE FOUR.....

At least ill have connectivity tomorrow, but gues what, I decide just to check, see if I can connect yet. And the answer is ... NO.

I phone 155 again. The lady that answers me tell me that the data service is now activated, but the sim is still faulty. THIS IS THE BRAND NEW SIM I JUST PAID MONEY FOR TO SWAP OUT...

Now I start thinking. This sounds very much like the problem we had a few months ago where the prepaid customers could not connect due to cappacity problems, but contract customers were fine. My question to you is, have anybody else had the same kind of problems recently in the Rosebank/Sandton/Rivonia area?

For reference purposes. I got the following tracking number from the helpfull VC techie this afternoon AX-NN5G-SO2PZ.

Hope this gets resolved without a second sim swap as then I will be a second day without any connectivity.

No, not recently, but when last did you use the original SIM card to successfully connect to the internet or make a chargeable call, or send an SMS etc?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe his Prepaid service was suspended.

I last used the original SIM to connect to the Internet about a month ago. I also used the original SIM as well as the swapped SIM yesterday to make a test call, so at least the voice service is still active.

I phoned 155 this morning again (as I was still getting the same error) and they have now assigned a technician to it (with reference number). They now say that the problem is with some or other profile that they need to reset...

For now im back to MTN but there I pay R1 per M instead of 28c per M

I have received three 'Dear Customer' sms's on this now. Every 2 hours. It gives me such a warm feeling to be appreciated

They have now escalated it to the engineering department and are attending to it. I also notice that they have put a 'sorry for the inconvenience' message on the 155 number. Would seem that it is now a national problem...
