Still No Coverage

I live in a new part of Cape Town, I haven't checked recently but a week or two ago they didn't even know what city my street was in, forget the suburb!

I filled in "Cape Town" as my city, then gave my suburb name, then my street name...then it brought up some street in Port Elizabeth. I suppose it was kind of close...it uh...had a 'g' in it's name AND it had the same street number as well so that has to count for something. Quite funny, but it doesn't matter whether or not I have coverage at this point as I really need an ethernet device anyway. If an ethernet device were available and I had coverage I would've jumped to Neotel AGES ago.

I can't wait I need at least a 10Gb option on prime though, possibly even the uncapped, so lite coverage just won't do. Come on Neotel!

Well, I just got my Neotel Prime (10GB) unit a couple of days ago here in Retreat (Cape Town) and so far I'm very impressed with the way they've treated me as a client and with the service.

I've got 4 bar reception and the download speeds are about the same as iBurst (overall) so I'm pretty happy. The only thing I *really* NEED from Neotel is an ethernet option.

With that said, I've already submitted my cancellation request to iBurst.

You lucky bugger...give me your address I'm coming to live with you:D

I also want to wait and see how their network holds up as the load increases as I don't want to get thrown into a 2 year contract (would be great if they offered a month-to-month system) with a network that can't support the speeds it advertises (not that telskum do that - I get cut off maybe twice a month and have to phone to get them to "reset" my connection on their end). Also I need an ethernet device and I don't want to be stuck with the neobrick once they move to the ethernet devices.

Did you know that once I phoned them and they said they "could see my modem from their end"...I then unplugged it and kept talking to them for a few minutes making sure their system could refresh itself then asked if they could still see it and they said "yes we can still see it". I wanted to tear my hair out.

I phoned neotel 3 weeks ago and they said I would have coverage within 1 week to 2 months, I've been checking every day, unfortunatly no coverage yet.

The coverage maps are indicative only. I took my device for a spin in the car this afternoon, and here in Somerset West, I was really impressed in the areas where I could make phone calls. I was even able to get a signal which is about 1.5km outside of their lite coverage in an area where for many years you could not get MNET cause of lack of line-of-sight.

Heck I was even 5km from the nearest base station (OK on a hill - but no line-of-sight) and was able to phone - no internet though.

I am like 4 streets out of cover in my area i really wish they could start rolling out the areas a little faster .... so still with i burst for a while longer come on neotel....

also waiting for fourways coverage... come on now Neotel... please, *pretty* please...

Finally got some coverage in Alberton .....

Of course the range of the lite package stops two streets away from where I live.

NOtel why ?????

When NeverTel tells you they will cover you in a month or so don't be so happy, they just lie, thats what they do.

I phoned them on the first day of their consumer launch, I was told that my home (in kempton, gauteng) is only 1 street away from coverage and will be covered within a month, one month past, nothing, when they made their coverage maps available online, I was more like 10 km away, so i phoned them again, this time its months (major note on the s for plural) so more waiting, then my contract with telkom expired, was hoping they will have some sort of date for me but as usual the meaning is the same but this time its "soon".

Hey I don't know how soon is defined really, guess compared to the amount of time it will still take for our sun to die their service might actually get to my place really really "soon"

What I do is instead of asking Neotel when I will be covered, I walk around with one of those Y-shaped sticks and use the ancient art of dowsing to detect Neotel coverage. I find it is a little more accurate than their information helplines.

Me also didn't covered, so I doubt Neotel will grow - it requires a lot of investment, covering area which not necessary will switch to 'em. But anyway, no cover - no customers. They cover too slow...

Your just sour cause you 'aint getting any ... Neotel have vast resources behind them with the Tata capital-cash-cow. I've noticed a slow down in their activities and I put it down to their upgrade to Rev-A.
