The EULA isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's actually VERY similar to XPs EULA.

It's definitely as bad as it looks, if not worse. They have changed the wording enough to add further restrictions. And they've left the door open to make the license more restrictive after you've bought it.

I actually cant wait, ive been living with XP's outdated look for too long.. and MP11 MSN8 etc look cool

Don't be surprised if MP11 starts automatically infecting your media with DRM.

This only counts for retail copies, since OEM copies are and always have been bound to one PC and one PC only.

And these are the versions that are often the easiest to just move to another machine.

Gotta say the EULA isn't likely to stop me buying something.

As long as there are no usage restrictions built into the code there is nothing stopping users from just ignoring the license.

At the end of the day, they are not gonna be able to do anything to stop me from pirating... I will get Vista premium, one way or another...

And WGA will be cracked properly sooner or later.

Been using Vista since Beta 2, and love it. Esp after I get my upgrade and finally install the latest build, I can feel that it is gonna be something...

Yes, the Premium version is what you want. Apparently with the Premium version you'll be able to use your DVD-writer & DVD-Rom drives. With the basic versions it's disabled and you only have access to one hard drive.

Piracy has nothing to do with price. People pirate budget games, people will pirate anything that isn't free. Even if Vista was R200 people would pirate it.
It has nothing to do with Microsoft but the criminal element in people who feel entitled to software.

You dislike MS so much, simple don't use it. linux is free and it plays Quake3. Loads of fun to be had there :/

Oh please - price has more to do with it than anything else. A person who buys one copy but still installs it on two machines is doing so for one reason alone - cost. If the price was lower more people would buy it.

No, he does have a point. Most people that pirate Windows pirate everything. I pirate all my software, even the stuff that costs like $10 to register. I just go to warez sites to search for my software..

Well actually. .maby I would, but we arent talking about R200, even if Vista was like R500 at the minimum then I would still crack it. But R200 is a bit low anyway..

It realy is a tired argument ShockG, Linux is a perfect 24/7 enviroment for free.
The fact that it doesn't work out for games doesn't bother me in the slightest.
An argument based on playing games just doesn't cut it for me, there are far more important things than playing games.

Um dude. Do you have any idea how long it takes them to make a OS? It is MUCH MUCH more effort to design a OS than a graphics card. They probably worked hundreds of hours programming Vista, the point that they give it to you on a cheap medium has nothing to do with it.

R2000 might be a bit much, but you can say becuase the CD and book costs them R5 (more like R40 with the DVD and box and the support they offer) that the software should costs something similar.

btw Shock G, if you are think of me with my graphics card that Im buying and not wanting to pay R2000 for Vista, well my entire budget on my new PC (just the case) is R4350 exactly. Thats just all the money I have, there is no way I could pay R2000 for my OS, then I couldnt even build a PC.

But I know there are alot of guys who build the absolute latest PC's for well over R15000 and then still crack XP, even though it only costs about R900 now. Then they still crack all of their games even though gaming is a huge part of their life and the only reason they spend so much on the PC, but they cant even support the game developers. I guess at least online games have to be bought original.

Walk into EA HQ and say that and see what they say?
Walk into ATI, XBOX Development Center, Nintendo, SCEA, nVidia, Logitech, Id, ATari, etc...

One of the key features of Vista besides the stability and Aero effects is the draw that is DX10. Billions upon billions of Dollars will be made because of this single API.
Linux doesn't play games and while I play games very rarely, I want to be able to do that. All the stability in the world will do nothing for me if I can't play Crysis and I won't be able to do that on Linux, that's the bottom line.

And believe I'm not the only one who subscribes to the above.

The only reason I want Vista is for DX10 and the cool aero effects primarily. And for that I am willing to pay.

A lotta k_k hard work goes into designing and developing a new OS. The money is well worth it.
Plus, MS has made some effort for people that cannot wait for Vista but need new hardware... they will give discount to people that buy Vista-capable hardware now with on XP, when Vista becomes available.
Mine is like that and I will most def be upgrading.

I just feel too bad that I'm stealing from the developers that spent all their time to bring me this fantastic software, don't give a faak if it's Microsoft or aHead Software - I will pay.
