I am of the opposite opinion, prefer the LG apps over the Samsung ones :p

@OP it really depends on you. I'd still go for a Nexus device first, then LG (not the G5 though), rest after. Personal taste.

Which LG apps are you specifically talking about. The email app of the Samsung is best you'll find hands down. The galaxy store is approximately 1million times better than the absolutely worthless LG store...
what's left?

what is the last samsung you've used?

Well personally I love stock android , would I let that fact alone dictate my choice of phone though , well No .

Iv had numerous devices over the years and the one thing that Stock android has always given me is great Ram use vs say a Samsung which always tends to hog the Ram use (granted I have not used the new S7's this year as yet) and quick updates . A perfect example last year was when the new Note came out and I was seriously considering one as Iv always liked the Note range , but when I compared the Ram use side by side with my then Nexus 6 there was a huge difference in the amount of free Ram available when opening numerous apps or internet browser pages .

Im currently using a Moto X pure and as user experiences go it has been one of the best devices Iv ever used , Iv not once had to worry about apps closing because of poor Ram use , lagging etc etc etc . The Mate 7 I had last year was also pretty good, though Huawei's skin does take some getting used to .

So personally while I would prefer stock android as in the nexus or Moto range I would not write off any of the other manufacturers just because they have their own skin . I think ultimately one has to look at what the device offers as a whole rather than just does it have stock android or not .

Good post. Agree on all points.

Just a note on the Samsung RAM "issue" and usage.
The Note 5 and S6 range had a RAM management issue where it would remove apps running in memory. That's was schit. The S7edge doesn't seem to have the same problem, which is awesome. Another thing, RAM usage on Android works different to Windows... it's not about what's free... if too much RAM is free, it's almost like wasting potential on an Android... RAM is there to be used... windows does things differently, and I'm not saying you are, but don't confuse the two, or try to relate them to each other.

Well, don't use the Samsung Store or the built-in e-mail, use the Gmail app that came with the phone as well.

Exactly, so many useless apps added on Samsung. Get the app you want off of Google Play instead.
Gripes I have with Samsung are e.g. physical home buttons, prefer software as you get more space for e.g. videos/gamaes, can customize the order of the home/back/menu button and its background.

It's the little things that are what you look for when you chose a phone. I would still first and fore-mostly base it off the hardware/price.

No but hang on, you said you prefer the LG apps, I just want to know which ones you are referring to.

Funny, I have the LG G4 stylus and a friend of mine have the G4, both seems be very close to Vanilla Android as can be. There's not a lot of apps installed on mine, I have to add my own bloat.

exactly

i'm off the opinion that people that go "stock or gtfo" are referring to touchwiz of old... since the S6, touchwiz has fastly improved

I can't see myself getting a phone for the sake of getting stock, and missing out on a fantastic camera, for example.

Totally agree with you. There is very little bloat on the newer launchers and I think that in some cases it polishes off the look of the OS.

The nice thing is that if you don't like the touchwiz launcher, just install the Google one. At least then you have a locally supported phone for accessories, warranty, screen repairs, etc...

Root your phones. Delete the trackers and phone home crap. Delete Google. Use APK Mirror for apps. The idea of Android was to be able to mod your phone to your liking.

Only problem with doing that with the latest Samsung phones is that ****ing e-fuse thingy - which will void your warranty.

My S6 is the only Android phone I've had that hasn't been rooted.

e-fuse? or do you mean knox

There is how many people on this forum that have rooted and flashed customer ROMs, and as soon as they want to do an ADH claim, they flash the original samsung rom from sammobile and go hand it in... the "techies" in this country is too daft to realize or to probably know what rooting is...

Samsung always had something like this to stop rooting, and every time so far there was something to get around it.

You can check on xda how to reset it for your phone

Word around the campfire is that there is a physical fuse in the devices - when you attempt to flash an unsecured boot-loader the fuse trips and cannot be reset without replacing the motherboard.

As per here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/penalties-flashing-rooting-t3097277

That said I haven't seen anything official about this so it may be bull**** - but I'm not willing to take the chance while my phone is still under warranty.

:)
