Stockton’s Basic-Income Experiment Pays Off

you don't even bother to read your communism handbook?

UBI is one of the concepts from communism, not all, partially.
but in principle, they are the same.

why they are the same? read your communism handbook.
What is this communism handbook you are always going on about? Is it a figment of your imagination?

UBI is definitely not a concept from communism

No it really isn't. Our capitalist society has allowed extreme concentration of wealth by the ultra-wealthy, like a bunch of grotesque Tolkienesque dragons. UBI makes it possible for these capitalistic wealth structures to continue unabated while providing the means for those at the lower end of the scale to still survive in such an unequal society. Communism would strip the means of production out of the hands of capitalists and make the ownership of the means collective.

In a sense this is the biggest issue I have with UBI. It doesn't fundamentally address the real problem. It's a pablum for the proletariat that allows the ultra wealthy to continue destroying the earth in pursuit of capital accumulation.

Ag dude... P*ss off with your logic here.

UBI = communism™

I find it really strange that those vehemently frothing about how bad of an idea any form of social upliftment in developed nations, are definitely middle class and won't be affected by this at all.

The ultra-rich money-hoarders have done a stellar job convincing the middle class that the problem is people who just want a living wage, and not themselves who are sitting on piles of money.

That normally refers to Mao's little red book if I'm not mistaken, but the communist seem to be unironically quoting Marxists nonsense from "Capital" with stuff like the "means of production" as if that's an actual thing.

Can you show me, in Mao's "little red book" where he talks about UBI?

If ZA implements UBI, there'd be a large percentage of drunken / drugged idiots who are not actively seeking employ because of "free money" and their sense of African entitlement.

You won't have to. UBI would be truly universal then with no need for actual money. You'll have a barcode tattooed to your forehead to make it easy to receive services.
This highlights a very important point. Then everyone would be entitled to the same services. Right? All equal. Except maybe for the political class.

The level at which everyone equalizes is always the bottom at the lowest common denominator. This was evident throughout Russia and China's communist experiments.

We've been having it with child grants and disability grants and old age grants(the kids stealing the granny's pension. ) the argument that it stops social unrest is sort of true. But look at how people at the quality of life for people living of grants. Sharing a 3m x 3m tin shack between 6 people .

I set up nothing. Yours sets up runaway inflation.
A future where you are not trying to reduce inequality sets up "eat the rich" from becoming a silly slogan to a reality.
More inequality=more violence. No matter how much you complain about inflation, there is no escaping this fact.

UBI can work in some countries, provided it replaces most other forms of state aid. It is much cheaper to administer than having to verify that each an every applicant is eligible for whatever grant they're applying for.
