Is it worth the hassle of taking public transport from London to see a few rocks in a field?

Not really, unless you appreciate things for whatever history and significance they might have. We went on a day tour to a few places which ended at stongehenge...we got there and there were rolling grey clouds in the distance, sunlight shafting through the clouds - it was a spectacular sight. But we'd also had a few hallucinogens so there's that, but...I was more pre-occupied with the landscape that the actual rocks which were a bit meh. It's fenced off anyways so you can't touch them to recharge.

As part of a whole day thing its cool - we did Windsor Castle, Bath and Stonehenge.

I would say yes , even if its not your "thing" it might make for some nice photo opportunities.

If you think that they are just "a few rocks in a field" then the answer is probably "no".

yes, and go to Bath while you in the area. Amazing little town.

Make sure you go in Summer though.

No dolerite is the worst of all the rocks.

But the second coolest Blaxploitation star after Shaft.

While I initially had no idea what this meant, a quick google search indicates to me that you're referring to "Dolemite", which is a mis-spelling of a perfectly-acceptable rock type.
