Stop advertising with the SABC

Most companies, if not all, do not have the gumption "courage, spunk or guts" to stop advertising with them as it's all about revenue in their pockets.

Yup, has to have a negative impact on their bottom line. Probably best to get the list of advertisers and then launch a campaign against them...

Choke the bastards by doing your small part and not renewing your tv license

Does not worry me as I don't listen to SABC radio or watch SABC Television. As far as I'm concerned that organization is run by a bunch of morons. I'm quite surprised that they are still in existence. Maybe being propped up by the Guptas.

Why should a company intentionally put themselves at risk and the jobs of their employees at risk by reducing their advertising?

I don't think the economy can afford this kind of sacrifice.

Rather campaign to move viewers to other channels. If viewers switch to other channels then the advertising will naturally follow to those channels.

There was a quote by the daughter of one of the journalists who said her father told her that the SABC is more than 1 one man or even the board. Why sacrifice the jobs of everyone at the SABC because of the actions of a few?

Focus on the few who are the cause of the problems.

Why should the employees of the SABC and the employees of the countless companies who depend on business from the SABC have to be sacrificed because of the actions of a few.

Same arguments can be used against boycotting Gupta-owned companies.

Well said. +1

...another way of looking at it is 'sacrificing' the relatively few employees for the tens of millions of people of SA... We can't stand by idly and watch the ANC turn the SABC into a propaganda machine like the days of apartheid...

Whats next? 'Regulating' the Internet?

I do not have a TV, so cannot see which advertisers to boycott, nor compile a list of them.
Is anyone able to do so and either post it here or start a sticky thread for reference purposes please?

Which other FTA channels would viewers move to? Isn't there only e-tv? And if viewers moved and advertisers followed, how would that save jobs at the SABC?

There is no greater threat to democracy, both politically and economically, than having censorship allowed to continue at the SABC.

And to those who do not watch it, it does not matter whether or not you watch it. I imagine 90 percent here don't watch it, but 90 percent of the general population is watching it, and having their news censored. That is detrimental to democracy in SA.
