I can hear faint ooking in the distance..
Hi all.

The short version of my hardware problem:
I'm running a freshly installed XP SP2 (installed Monday) and got BSOD's a couple of times. It only happened while files were being copied, either by myself using Teracopy or by Windows trying to install drivers from another HD. Now, I got 2Gb of new Transcend RAM on Tuesday, and the errors started on Thursday, would this be the likely culprit?

The longer version:
I formatted my pc on Monday, re-installed XP and dual-booting Ubuntu. On Wednesday I added 2Gb's of RAM and replaced my IDE DVD-writer with a nice new SATA one. Then my brother's pc decided to pack up. I popped his C drive into my external to backup his important files to my E drive before formatting, and in the process of copying these files, I got the dreaded BSOD. This morning, I tried to install drivers (for a printer) I keep on my E drive, and got the same problem.

My intuition says it's the RAM, but it might also be my E drive.
I don't have an error code yet, only switched the auto restart off now, will try to replicate in a bit and post then.

Any ideas?

For some reason my PC still restarted, even though there's no tick next to "Automatically restart", so I went to the Event Viewer under Admin Tools, and I think this is what I need:

Source: Save Dump
Event ID: 1001

Code:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.
The bugcheck was: 0x1000007f (0x00000008, 0xbab40d70, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).
A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini032808-02.dmp.

The contents of the Minidump file is garbage in Notepad, if I need an extra app to view it, please let me know and I'll post the content.
