We need a soft-hands approach towards the criminals because of the sheer number of their votes

Pro-government of Kempton Park writes:The people, including the comrades who forever complain about crime, don’t get the whole picture to understand that we are better off with a very high crime rate.

Crime feeds many mouths: those of the criminals and their families from their periodical “harvests” and those of the people in the security and insurance industries from their salaries.

Four times the number of police members are employed in private security companies and they simply cannot become unemployed as they will lose their income and Government will lose their income tax.

Government also benefits handsomely on VAT and import duties from every camera, security and alarm system that gets imported and installed to deter the criminals. The same goes for the goods that get stolen and that need to be replaced by the insurance companies.

One needs to do the maths to see how much Government earns when charging 25% duties and 14% VAT on every TV imported because it needs to replace a stolen one. Finally, we need a soft-hands approach towards the criminals because of the sheer number of their votes.

Criminals will not vote again and again for a party that is too harsh on them and we might easily see a different party in charge of Gauteng if the criminals’ votes swing away from the ruling party.

Crime provides jobs, a booming security industry and is a continuous and sustainable income for Government through all kinds of taxes.

Handling crime the way the police do ensure political power to our well-deserving liberators. Yes, crime causes a lot of traumatised people but this can be fixed with counselling and allowing enough time to get over it.

The Germans, who first-hand experienced a house robbery in Edleen a couple of weeks ago, will return to Germany with wounds that merely prove that Africa is not for sissies.

I think that was spam mail from many years ago... read it before.

LoL! Maybe satire but I will not put it beyond the Zuma regime!

That moronic letter has been published in other newspapers aswell. It was signed off as pro government.

30% pass rate rears it head again

Lol, but it's no lie that government and other crooks do benefit handsomely from crime. All sorts of crime.

Yup. Every time you buy something to replace something that was stolen, the government happily pockets the VAT and excise duties...

Like I told my younger brother after he was robbed in the street; don't think of it as a 'mugging', rather refer to it as an involuntary contribution to those less fortunate (& better armed).
