Stop telemarketing etc

Hi. I am fed-up with getting phone calls from banks, networks, soap factories, car dealers, pimps and any other corner shop who wants to advertise their rubbish. I heard some time ago there is a website where one can register to stop this. What is the site and does it actually stop this nonsense?

I signed up and it helped a lot.

It wont stop calls from places you have a relationship with (like bank) that want to sell you other stuff. If they give you hastles go address is with them or leave them for the competition.

And these places that call you, to you notify them you have signed up and then report them? They'll stop quick quick.
