Storm 2 9250 vs Bold 9700

Never get the Storm.
Ever.
Under any circumstances...

Ever.

Just don't.

Don't get the Storm 2. I've owned both but ditched the Storm for the 9700. The only thing better about the Storm2 is the screen, and only until you use it. The touch screen is a huge mission. The Bold 2 has awesome keyboard shortcuts and although the screen is small, the resolution is the same as the Storm 2.

RIM's expertise, for now, is in smartphones with QWERTY keyboards, not touchscreens.

o_O the touch seemed epic... But other than you two, the 9700 is the way to go?

Why is the stoem bad?

A better question to ask is: why is the Storm good?

With the Storm, you can: make calls, send messages, download apps and use BIS.
Unfortunately, it performs these simple tasks worse than any other Blackberry due to its semi-retarded touch interface.

The 9700 on the other hand is the newest and best Blackberry by far in terms of functionality, usability and robustnessness.

Love my Storm 2, but haven't used the 9700

The heading pretty much says it all.
I wanted a BB, and coming from a previous touchscreen phone, my new phone had to have touchscreen. I read all the write-ups and reviews, and still decided to go for the Storm 2. The phone does occasionaly hang and you have to do a battery pull, but besides that I absolutely love it. Am very happy with it and everything it does. The main reason I wanted a BB was because all my friends have them and within the last two months, two of them have had to hand in their 9700 and 8520 respectively for repairs.
I think that as long as you understand that its not an Iphone and you make sure that you update the software, then it'll do just fine as a fully functional BB.
I'm very very happy with mine.

Had a storm 2. Issues with dropped calls due to 3g/2g swap. Touch screen not to my liking, not to mention it cracks easily. Battery life is meh.... The Bold is a better option

I chose the Storm 2 over the 9700.

I love it, the clicking touchscreen is really awesome! I can type so fast, and when I'm not typing, I have a big screen to browse on.
It has given me no problems...

Really it is brilliant, I think the best part is the clicky touchscreen though....

I love my Storm2, you get the occasional hang, but nothing major, I don't have to do the battery pull, the call dropped issues were sorted in the new firmware update. Battery life is a full day but improved with an updated firmware. Have not tried the 9700 but screen size was important to me, so there you have it, I love my Storm2!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any questions??????????

9700 user here. Decent device.. Want to sell it though, 3 weeks old.. R4500.pm me comes with protective pouch etc.. Reason: want a different ph I've had my eye on

I have the bold 9000 and am due for a upgrade soon. All I want to know is the memory on the 9700 larger for it to store applications on. I keep getting that my application memory is full and would like it if I could install more apps on my new phone.

That's good. I am currently between the htc desire and the bold 2. You are also up for upgrade soon I believe Oronte? We got our phones almost at the same time. What you gonna get next?

Next month. I'm going to be uncharacteristically patient and wait till November/December for the 9800 slider. I wouldn't mind the Desire but then my monthly fee would at least double because I would be forced to take a data bundle.

Is it already confirmed that the 9800 will be in SA by then. I have a three months wait. Can wait for a month longer if it is definately coming.

No, no confirmation, RIM haven't even launched it yet. It might not arrive by then (the Pearl 3G still hasn't arrived but a guy can hope). If not then I'll go for the Storm or Bold refresh (also expected at the end of the year but no official announcement).

if my storm2 comes back from MTN for the 2nd time and screws up, I'm going to nail this thing to the wall. The touch screen, when it didn't work for me just frustrates me to no end as it's just being unresponsive. Any calls in or out won't click. That was my major major MAJOR gripe! had to do battery pull at least once a day. Otherwise typing on it is faster then the 9700 I'm using now. Think the 9700 keys are very similar to the curve - small and I don't have big hands.
The OS are the same so software wise I think no difference. Only the touch screen which I'd never get on BB again.
