Storm 2 vs Bold 2

Worst thing you could ever do mate. Touch screen on the Storm 2 is a disaster! Ask anyone, huge issues with it. The bold is the far better option!

Hmm really? Main reason was because of the browsing on a touch screen... Meant to be better.

I have the Storm 2 9520 and love it.

To top it off, BB are releasing new OS 6 end July/August which includes completely new webkit based browser, multitouch, etc which are going to make touch screen devices even better and easier to use.

"On touchscreen device, new modal popup with gestures - tap and hold, pops up an icon set (menu) with context menu items "

Touchscreen +1

Well seeing the Storm and Storm 2 are the only touch screens RIM have on the market and all over the net OS 6 features include:

- implemented multitouch throughout the OS
- On touchscreen device, new modal popup with gestures
- Media player: supports multitouch, with a finger swipe needed for browsing album covers

I can't see how it wouldn't be available on the Storm 2?

Unless they plan on launching new touch screen phones in the next few months that no one knows about.

So the Storm 2 looks like a pretty good option...

In the few videos I have watched, typing seems a lot better than on phones that don't click.

I take it there is no link then! So, you recklessly advocate a phone based on a future operating system that is unconfirmed for a storm 2? I sincerely hope you right though.
I would go and buy a storm 2 today if RIM confirms OS6 for it.

I just picked up my Storm2 yesterday. There were a lot of problems with the ealrier ones, but if you make sure you update the s/w to the latest version they seem to be pretty good. Speaking to people who have had Bolds and Storms, the general view is that if you want a rock solid phone that just works, but is possibly a little boring, then go for the Bold. If you want something 'nicer', are a bit of a techno geek and don't mind the odd minor glitch, then go for the Storm2.

One friend of mine got one of the first Storm2's on the market and had a lot of problems. Did a firmware update and now rates it as better than her boyfriends iPhone.

xeslaro is correct, there is no confirmation that os 6.0 will be on either the bold 2 or the storm 2. So far is has only been seen on devices having 512mb of memory whereas the latter only have half of that...

I had a storm 1, it is because of that phone that I changed to a bold 2. I will never buy another touch screen BB again.

I bought my mate's Storm 2 (9530) off him yesterday for a bargain. I thought I'd replace my secondary phone with it but after 24 hours of using it I don't know how anyone can say it is better than the Bold. I have a Bold as well and that is what I will be using as my primary phone. It is way more practical. If anybody wants this Storm 2 I'll let it go for R3500. The touch screen on this thing is driving me nuts. I'd rather use an iPhone.

Really what don't you like about the touchscreen? That clicking screen is pretty much the only thing stopping me from going for the Bold.

Everything takes so much longer on the Storm. The Bold has shortcuts for everything and once you are used to the keypad you will be touchtyping like on a normal keyboard. The Storm 2's screen is lovely but that's about it. I will go crazy with all the time wasted in frustration trying to use it.

The iPhone's onscreen keboard is much better. If you want a good touchscreen phone on a budget I'd say get a 2nd hand iPhone or wait for the BB 9800 is you don't mind spending extra.
