Did anybody ever dealt with this towing company?
I was involved in an accident on 26 November and my car was towed by MTR/STR Towing and recovery. Upon the towing of the vehicle, no fees or rates were discussed and all that was told by Wayne is that 'the insurance will sort it out as they work with ALL insurance companies. The van was towed no further than 2kms to the MTR/STR storage facility. During the week I was liaising with the insurance company as well as the assessors. The assessor from Budget Insurance told me that they are ripping me off as they (Budget Insurance) will only pay R2000. I had to pay MTR Towing R11000 to tow it away from them upon which I discovered that dogs were sleeping in the van.
I was charged R11 000 from MTR/STR for the following:
1st Tow: R 3500 ( For less than 2 KMS)
Recovery: R 2850 ( No Idea what this Means)
ADMIN: R 750 ( For WHAT IS THIS ADMIN as there was no admin involved besides writing out an invoice)
SECURITY: R 650 Why should I pay for MTRs Security?
STORAGE: R 3250 @ R250 per day
According to my conversation with Wayne, he mentioned that my Insurance Company was 'robbing me' and he had nothing to do with the fees. Upon contacting the insurance company, we had discovered that this bill was generated by STR/MTR. R11 000 is a rip off for a 2km tow.
