Strange ADSL Problem

Hi guys

I'm asking here too see if I can get some help before I phone Telkom. I'm guessing its my port at the exchange maybe.

Problem: So my line syncs 100% I can even surf the net etc. the problem is that after about 5mins or so, connectivity stops for 5-10secs and then resumes. The line DOES NOT drop as it stays synced and connected. I have noticed this mainly while playing online: I will be playing COD4 100% then I get connection interrupted for about 10 seconds or so, and then carry on gaming as if nothing happened. About 2min later same thing happens. eventually the waiting for the connection interrupted to stops gets longer and then sometime sis kicks me from the server. :mad:

I even sat watching a download of 60mb and noticed that it would download full speed and then the speed would drop down till it got to zero for about 5secs and then resume to full speed, again my line does not drop at this point. :confused:

I have tried 2 different downloads from different servers, as well as 4 different ISP and connections. 1 cybersmart, 1 prepaid webafrica, 1 prepaid axxess and a axxess semi-shaped. :confused:

Please any help is welcome.

I have a 384 line and a Netgear DG834G wiresless router.

had a similar issue, problem is @ the exchange or ur local telescum box.. U need a techie to come out and fix.. log fault.. good luck
 
Well got telkom to reset my port anyway, let's hope this fixes the problem.
 
Ok Telkom reset my port and this has sorted the problem, but every now and again it does the same thing. So the problem is surely at the exchange. What if it keeps on happening what must I do?
 
I happened to me as well,I phoned my ISP they sorted the problem out. Now the connection is fine. I also played COD4 online,it would go down just long enough for the server to time out.

Was your ISP Telkom? As I have tried different ISP's and accounts.
And I was about to upgrade to a 4meg line, so am going to wait a while now and see if it gets sorted.

Get a 4mb line, will be fun hosting cod4 lol :D
