Strange android behaviour

All of a sudden my phone when ringing tells me what number is calling using some computer voice as well as telling me by the same voice about sms messages basically reading them out.

How do I stop this? Very embarrassing

Sounds like you've enabled accessibility settings. Check settings and go through accessibility to see if it's been enabled and disable it.

I made the same mistake with my Tablet - couldn't figure out and I thought it was possessed!

Oh I forgot about it, I removed it form my notification panel sometime ago.
