Hi All

I recently experienced a very weird browser issue (on both Chrome and IE). When trying to load a specific website, it would be unavailable (like the site cannot be reached / no internet connection). When I connect through VPN in Netherlands, the site would be accessible, but only for a short time before it becomes unavailable again. Turning off the VPN then sometimes work again.

There is only one specific website that have this issue.

Currently running ADSL on Mweb premium 10meg uncapped. DNS through Unlocator.

Any ideas as to the cause?

Hi Spudman, send me a PM with your MWEB details and I will investigate

Try signing up for an Afrihost or a Webafrica 1GB account and see if the issue persists, then it is something on your end. If not, it's Mweb, but they are kind enough to immediately go to trouble shooting on their end.

I use Firefox and Chrome and all sites load immediately with only one exception.

At least a quarter of my attempts on MyBroadband fail.

This is not just an initial load failure. The site will not load at all unless connection is switched through VPN, and then back again.

Sorry, correction: Not a VPN but rather a proxy. With the proxy it works. Without the proxy, it does not.

The weird thing is the tracert with and without the proxy looks exactly the same?

Cause a trace will not go through the proxy, will trace directly to the site.

(Proxy only for web requests, DNS, mail traffic ICMP etc will not even know about the proxy)
