Strange Hardware Thing

This only happens with Vista/Windows 7:
I have two hard drives mkay?

On XP, it sees both harddrives but, on Vista/Windows 7 it only sees the one hard drive UNLESS I "scan for hardware changes" in the Device Manager, then it picks it up.

Why is that?

I haven't installed any SATA drivers, I didn't know I had to, lol. I just assumed Windows would handle all that for me.

Well sometimes Windows does.
I suggest installing the SATA Chip drivers, see if it helps.
I would think that this is quite irritating...

Every time I start my computer up I have to run the Scan for Hardware Changes option under D.M, lol, so yes, quite irritating

ok what you need to do is change the drive letter,This usually happens with win7.
