Here is the scenario:
Home network consisting of the following -

2 desktops and 1 HP laptop.
Desktops run WinXP Professional SP2 and laptop WinXP Home SP2

One of the desktops has ics configured on a usb 3G connection.

LAN IP Configurations are as follows:
Host Desktop:
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: blank
DNS: blank

Client Desktop:
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

Client Laptop:
IP: 192.168.0.3
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

Internet connectivity works perfectly when only the desktops are connected to the switch. As soon as the laptop is connected to the network, the internet connection goes down for all nodes, even the host.

Strange thing is, these exact computers have worked in this configuration before without issues. I have now turned off all firewalls (windows and Trend Micro) on all nodes. Though the 2 desktops functions correctly with their Trend Micro firewalls enabled. The laptop only has windows firewall.

When running tracert on the laptop only the first hop is successful to 192.168.0.1.

When running tracert on the client desktop tracert functions as expected returning the route to outside addresses.

When the laptop is connected to the network the number of sent bytes on the hosts internet connection ramps up quickly, and nothing is received. When the laptop is not connected the internet connection sits idle except of course for actual requests made for web pages through a browser on the host or other desktop client.

The 3 pc's can ping each other and can access file shares on each other.
The laptop literally kills the internet connection. I have tried switching cables (for what its worth), nothing

Looking forward to your suggestions, 'cause this issue is driving me slightly nuts.

Thanks
Nico
