Strange issue with taillight/stoplight

Hi all


Seem to have a really odd issue with my cars taillamp/stoplamp but only on the right side.

Stoplight Seems like its burnt out, but if you tap the housing it comes on,
Same story with number plate light, if you tap it it comes on immediatly.

Bad contact in the holder? Fuse needs changing? Or should i just start by changing the bulb and seeing what happens?

have you tried cleaning the globe housing contact and the globe's contacts (though I'd rather just replace the globes)?

Let me try first change globe, and then see
But can it be just bad contact?

Won't be the globe unless it's dirty or rusty. It's a connection fault either housing dirty or bad wiring or wiring connection.
A bulb is like a fuse either it works or its blown.
Check dirt
Check connectors on bulb
Check male female wiring connectors.
To me sounds like a earth problem.

Earth problem like with the battery?
Or earth to chassis?

Earth on that connection so you need to check harness and see the earth wire. Test the earth to the body with a piece of wire when not working properly and you will then see if it's the earth wire or not.

But can it be just bad contact?

make sure to clean the housing the light screws into or you will repeat again in a few days time.

Also note what the other posters wrote. It is really a process of illimination.
