Strange Issuse Please Help

Ok this one is for the books, please can one of the gurus out there help shed some light.

I am at my GF folks place in CT, so the other day I bought a prepaid account from openweb to do some downloading and not use my GF dads account. Internet was working fine. So I add the new details and did the downloads no problem. Now the interesting bit, when i try and add his details back the internet will not work I have also loaded my own details and still no internet???

The line syncs no problem and will only work with the openweb details now (which is local only) WHY????

He even bought a new netgear (was using a telkom mega 100WR) and the same thing is happening. Tried with my laptop his laptop and his main PC all with the same affect. It's like the exchange box will only accept the openweb details and nothing else?!?

Why is this happening? Even when I enter in my own account details (which are correct and have gigs) i get a PAP authentication failed error with the netgear. Please help as this as me going mad for the last 2hours.

do you do bridge mode authentication (connect shortcut) or router authentication (using gateway) - seems like bridge

if you are using bridge mode authentication - i would suggest to create a new pppoe account in xp/vista and check if it connects - if not post error code here

if you are using router authentication - klap a cmd and nslookup - check if your dns is working 10.0.0.2 (netgear router uses another ip) or use the correct saix dns 196.43.50.190

Thanks for the reply, it's not in bridge mode and I using the netgear router now as it is a little better. Plus have no idea how to bridge it. How do you create a new pppoe account??? Here is the error i get when I try and test the connection via the netgear:

Connection time 00:00:00
Connecting to server Failed
Negotiation LCP down.
Authentication PAP authentication failed
Getting IP address ---

But I know my details are correct.

UPDATE: Tried with a friends details and it connected also tried with my old webafrica details to see if its SAIX but that connected fine?!? But my details and my GF Dads still don't work?!?

http://your.own.router.ip/setup.cgi?next_file=mode.htm to get it into bridge mode

control panel - network connections - file - new - create a new connection - manual - broadband using pppoe.

Ok thanks guys but got it up again. I changed the password 3 times and re entered the details into the router 3 times and it's come up? Still not sure why it did this, I'm guessing it was something on telkoms server. I found this thread as well http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=51136

So its working now but still not with my details, but that could be because of my crappy ISP and they may have locked it to my phone number.
