HI All

I need to ask help.

I am in IT my self and this is the first time I see it on a laptop, its a samsung laptop with an i3 CPU with 4GB RAM

Windows 7 Pro installed .

Everytime I shutdown or restart Windows 7 it freezes after says shutting down

Checked the RAM and its fine and the drive is fine

Sometimes when I am in the bios and want to exit the system shuts down. , Also occures when I tell Windows to restart. What could be the cause.

Have you tried shutting down in safe mode? If it freezes in safe mode you are probably looking at a hardware issue and if not then more than likely its a software issue and then there are some things you could try.

Still does the same its not software I dont think its that because Windows is running fine only occurs when shutting down or restarting that the laptop turns off

All Drivers updated. As I said I doubt it if its Windows itself as it boots up fine I even did a bios update its still the same even tested the RAM . Checked the hard drive health its fine.

As a qualified tech I have never seen this in my life.

I've seen this before, but not the bios issue. It ended up being the driver from a USB device. Taking out the USB device made windows shutdown/restart properly.

Though I don't think this is the issue with you.

I've seen it before with an Asus laptop.

Try this:

Unplug the charger and all USB devices like storage, mouse and keyboard, and see if it still hangs at startup and shutdown

Turned out it was an IRQ order error for the attached devices

Very silly and I'm sure you might have checked, but not perhaps a loose/bad battery connection?

Have you try to look at an event log entries in the event viewer?

It should point you in the right direction. By clicking “Event ID” entry the description for Event ID should give you some indication.

I had a problem like that before it was the power drivers that where not correct. Check all your drivers. Maybe go to the laptop website for drivers.

Is it a fresh install of windows?
Was a fresh install of Windows
guys as I said its not drivers as a qualified tech I checked that.
It does that with the battery out too. It cant be overheating because once Windows is running then the system is fine Event viewer says nothing like that.

Motherboard problem?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Very funny that is the only thing that it can do is total power off and normal power on not restart . I have lent the laptop to a friend of mine when I get it back I will show you
