And here I am crying over my measly R500+ bill. At what they are charging you, it would be better to have gas cooking, gas or some other form of water heating outside of warm weather if you have solar. Invest in solar and batteries.
The only thing I disagree with is your fate. The pipe levy started in 2018Fixed charges started with the DA in the Cape. I can`t remember if the fixed sewerage or the water pipe levy came first. The pipe levy came in 2016 I think - to make up for income losses from less water consumption during the drought. 9 Years later and people are still paying the drought pipe levy. People still raved about how great the DA is, so this very successful concept of milking the cashcows more has now become more prevalent. The indigent areas pay no fixed charges at all. Every year the indigent areas get better subsidized benefits. This is how SA`s socialist government is making us all equal......ly poor.
