I hope someone can help me.

I am running Mac OS X 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard) and on the 5GB + D105 combo on Cell C. The issue arise when my Internet was idle for a while. I would open a web page, it will say, connecting or waiting in the web browser (Firefox), but then just hang. All other internet requests fail, including Email.

But, if I switch off the wireless and switch it on again. It works fine.

Any ideas on this?

When this happens, are you able to visit www.cellc.co.za ?

Is there a period of idle time when this happens? Does it happen when you turn it on for the first time? Do you turn the wireless on your mac on and off or the router?

Let me give a bit more detail:

There are 4 wireless devices in my home. 2 Mac's, a Wii and iPhone. There is no problem with either the Wii or iPhone as it connects to the wireless network (D105 router) when required. But the MacBook Pro's connect to the Wireless network and stay connected. The D105 router is setup to disconnect on 60 minutes of idling. WPA2 security is enabled.

When the MBP's are idle for a while (haven't measured the time yet), the MBP's have difficulty connecting to the Internet. To eliminate the Cell C modem, I used my iPhone and it worked fine. Still the MBP's still won't link to the Internet, even though the Wifi is on and the iPhone works.

The solution is to open the airportmenu (drop right on OS X), disable the Airport function and reconnect.

My suspicion is that something in OS X is causing it.
