I've just moved my P.C components from my new case back into my old one because I'm going to install my PC in the new case. After putting everything into the old case I turned it on and...... nothing happened. It was dead. :o

I had a similar problem when I removed my 3D card from that same machine and replaced it with an older card. The P.C was dead except for a flicker of light from the LED's. I spent hours trying to get it to work and suddenly after changing plugs and power cables it worked. So I put it all back how it was originally except of course the old 3D card was kept and the PC worked:eek: . It worked fine until I changed cases.

So now I'm  . I've changed plugs and power cables and still only the LED's flicker on and then nothing. I guess I'll just wait until it magically comes back to life like last time.

Sounds like a short. Your MBD or some components is earthing to the case.

Plug everything out, just leave the board and CPU+Fan intact, and try to power up. If it doesn't, take the board and CPU out of the case and see of it boots outside of the case.
If it does, systematically plug each additional component back onto the MBD and test. Basic process of elimination, actually.

Well I 've unplugged everything and it's still not working. What I did note is the CPU cooler's fan spins a little longer each time. Also when I press the "on" button for a second time there is no response at all. I have to unplug it at the wall put the plug in again and press "on" for there to be any response.

Also if I hold the "on" button in for 10 seconds and then release it followed by pressing it again I will get a response.

It's shorting against the case. Take the motherboard out of the case and put it on a box or anti static bag and try powering it on like that. See if it works

I think I fixed it

There were two 4 pin plugs for the slot near the CPU. Had the one plugged in and swapped it with the other and it powered up. Just gotta plug everything else back in and see if it works.

Still doesn't explain how last time it managed to suddenly work with the one I had in originally when I changed the 3d card

well if it shorted against the case you would have know because smoke comes out and it doesnt smell healthy :P

It's working fine now with everything pluggged in.
