Strange problems with ADSL

As the title says, I'm getting some really strange issues with my ADSL. Some days the internet is extremely slow and then suddenly it is fast again. I often get disconnected and then sometimes get authentication issues.

Any idea what it could be, I have a feeling it might be my line or the modem? Anyone else with similiar problems?

The drops are most likely due to the line, the slowness could like with a bad line or most likely with your ISP.

What speed line do you have, what isp are you with? What transfer rates do you get?

I have a 384kbps line with Telkom as my ISP. When downloading multiple threads I can easily download in excess of 32KB.

When what's the problem Are you getting those transfer rates when its extremely slow?

My internet will then suddenly slow down for no reason, page load times are then worse than dail up. Sometimes a reset sorts it out, but most often it will just get better after waiting a few hours.

I've used a different log on with webafrica when this happend, and that was also slow.
