Ok so today i received an sms from myself, when checking msg details its from my number to ... my number!
All the msg said was "testing"

Anyone else received an sms like this before formt here own number?
I checked my outbox & sent item & it definately was not me.
So how could this have happened?

Does anyone have your log in details for your SP's self service? If so, perhaps someone logged in and sent that sms to your number.

If not...have you logged a fault with your network? Perhaps they sent a test SMS to check the delivery of SMS's to your number?

Havent used MTN's online thingy - doubt it ever worked.
Havent logged a fault, will do!

hehe...not telling you to log one...asking if you did log a fault in the not so long past? They might have been testing your number or someting because of that. :-)

It does sound strange...but cant imagine it being serious...unless someone has your log in details to the online portal.

Cloned SIM perhaps ?

Cloned SIM perhaps ?

I suppose it is possible...although I still no not fully understand how it is possible to clone a sim. The reason why I say this is because your cell number is not actually stored on the sim card. When you power up your phone the sim gets registered on the network and the network will check what cell number belongs to that sim. Is there a way that they can "imprint" a known sim number on a blank sim then?

If this is a worry for the Ice...then perhaps it would be advisable for him to go do a sim swop rather and just get a new sim number. Rather safe than sorry I suppose.
