Ok, so my line has been dropping a lot again, but I realized that after 11pm till about 6.30 am the SNR is at about 25 on average, but online day (the rest of the time) it pops up and down between 8 (when the line reconnects) and 15. This is causing my line to drop about 10 times an hour and its un-usable between 5 and 10pm.

What would be the reason for time based behavior? Are there too many lines going into one exchange and telkom infrastructure just cant handle it ?

So the strange behavior continues and the SNR is averaging 25 today. Wonder if it will drop again next week...

i am getting the same now in my area.
they upgraded the DSLAM. all was working great then the storms started wonder if there i water on the line... hmmm

Its ridiculous, SNR is 28 now, but was 10 earlier and it was impossible to use... have logged a fault on telkoms website, lets hope i get a competent techie.

My SNR has been borked for a week or two now. Jumps all over the place and sometimes causes disconnects. I think it's probably from the rain.

I did discover a neat trick a while ago, though... If you keep your land line phone engaged off-the-hook, the line signal strength is boosted quite strongly. It ties up the line, obviously, but if you don't use the landline phone anyway, then it's a workable quick-fix until Telkom decide to fix the problem or until Christ returns for Armageddon... whichever comes first.

A bad quality line does also work better with a high-quality (expensive) router.

Have the same problem

I too have the same prob mine hovers around 14-15db but during the day it crawls on 11 and dies out soon after

Telkom should be out at my place at 11, but SNR is crusing at 28 now.. grrr, hopefully the millions of erorred seconds are enough to get the guy to do something.

Ok guy came, ran some field test, showed line was failing somehwere. Switched me to the new DSLAM and it passed the test. Lets hope this is sorted.
