Well here goes ...

Thursday evening I wanted to change my ISP settings in the router... and all of a sardine I could not sync/authenticate (tried 3 different ISP's) nothing !! So whipped out my spare modem just to test.. yup you guessed it .. nothing. Check phone etc. all works fine.

Friday --> logged a call with Telkom

Sunday --> Techie rocks up. Did line test etc. All fine. And then he whips out some crappy adsl modem, hooks it up and boom ! ADSL is working. So tried my modem/s again (which I know are not damaged) with the Telkom guest account and nothing !! He even called in for a port reset and still couldn't figure out anything.

Turns out that 2 other people in my area have the same problem. (apparently they also have tp-link and netgear routers)

Anyone ever had this problem ?

I know my TP-Link originally didn't have the correct VPI and VCI values, but if yours was working, they shouldn't have suddenly changed by themselves
This is what they must be:

Please note that for at least the next 7 days, and possibly until the end of this month, Telkom will be upgrading most exchanges around South Africa. During this time, your Telkom exchange may go offline for up to 7 hours, and you may have difficulty synchronising with the Telkom network entirely, and authenticating on ISP accounts. Throughput during this time may also be reduced should Telkom move capacity over their redundant links to prevent downtime for any unforeseen or preventative reasons. Should this happen to your line, please do not be alarmed, as this is an expected process while these overdue upgrades and maintenance processes take place on the Telkom network. quote from crystal web

Well techie said he changed my port or whatever at the exchange.. working now and all of a sudden I'm on ADSL2+ :wtf:
