Strange yummy foods

I was thinking steak tonight - nice thick NY Strip - but now I'm getting a hankering for some BBQ. . .

Candied bacon is actually quite nice - I'd give the chocolate covered one a shot...

BBQ is for the uncultured... we do not BBQ in this country...

We Braai demmit. :)

I'd also give it a shot... chocolate actually gets a flavour boost from salt, so it might prove to be a very very interesting combo.

Help me out - braai is Afrikaans for overcooked or badly cooked? I can never get it straight. . .

Braai is Afrikaans for cooking meat in the way it was intended to be cooked.

BBQ is for cooking burgers on a gas fire which takes NO skill whatsoever :p

BBQ is not Braai as we know it though- but is reference to a whole different cuisine Southern US Style. BBQ pits,
Pulled Pork, Pork ribs, beef ribs, beans, cornbread, BBQ sauce, smokehouses, etc. That's some of the lingo.
Tender, juicy, boneless meat served on butchers paper lightly sauced. Yum.
US BBQ/smokehouse/BBQ Pit eating is an experience like nowhere else in the world. It's nothing to do with taking a piece of meat like we uncultured heathens do and burn it on the braai. The act of throwing meat on a metal grill on a fire outdoors is BBQ or as we say Braai but BBQ Food is something entirely different.

That is ultimately irrelevant, What the americans do is heathen and uncultured...

What we do is cultured...

For you to say any different is just shocking and unpatriotic.

My heart is torn ever since I went to NYC on a visit and they flew in Corkys BBQ for a birthday party all the way fresh from Memphis. So I look at things this way. The Americans can't braai, but we can't do BBQ.:D

So, Bwana, How long do you think Fedex will take with a Corkys order? http://bbq.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ/Ya&sdn=bbq&zu=http://www.corkysbbq.com/

See now that is a bit strange.. how can you fly something that is cooked, in fresh?.. surely it would be cold and manky by the time you got it?

The Americans can't really BBQ in the truest sense of the word either. Best BBQ i've ever had was in Australia of all damn places.

No matter how you slice the english language.. you cannot have Frozen food be fresh.. its just not possible.
