Strategies for Lock vs Hunter?

The one i think will work around level 30-40 is to go close so the bow cant get you, fear him, kill the pet (DoT's and such) and then kill that mofo.
 
hmm...playing with my Mage I kill him as fast as possible...just stay close to the huntard :p The do A LOT less damage with melee
 
With hunter dead zone removed, you really need to be ontop of him not to get hit by his bow.

Warlock best is to dot and fear. Life drain when he is shooting at you also works quite nice to keep you up while your dots are chewing his life away.
If the hunter pops beastial wrath, get ready to click release...
 
Haha, yes. My locks still lowb but hunters scare the crap out of me. That plus I was a hunter for a while. I loved popping Beast Within and going to town on warlocks then.

Only real hope is to dot the crap out of him, affliction helps with Siphon Life, but his ARROWS OF PAIN and ANGRY RED CAT are going to mean you aren't going to get much Drain Life going. About the only thing I can think of is, insta summon and sac Voidwalker if you are demo or sl/sl, deathcoil(if cd is up) and fear him as soon as he drops out, and keep siphon life up on as many targets as you can.
 
Arcane Shot will handle the Voidy Shield.

To be honest though I've skipped getting Beast Within on my Hunter for now so I could get Go For The Throat quicker.

I'll probably take it next level though just because 20% more Damage is going to be win in Instances.

20% more damage every 2 mins vs more pet focus? I take it you have less than 30% crit so your pet will not get that much focus from your crit anyway...

Well that sucks.

I guess that's why they're removing dispel from Arcane Shot in Wrath, and putting it on Tranq Shot instead.

Dispell effects should NEVER be part of a normal shot rotation. Shammy Purge/Priest Dispel for example.

Beastial Wrath will still Rape you. It pwns hard.
Your best bet would be to try dot and use LOS to avoid the Hunters shots.

@Werries2, I'm sitting on about 16% Crit so it's not uber but Go For the Throat is still a lot more Threat for my pet. I save cooldowns for 'o ****' situations when I'm leveling (pvp server) so Bestial Wrath doesn't get used often enough to make Beast Within a big boost.

@Skurm, the new Hunter Glyphs are looking to make some very cool new Shot Rotations for Hunters. No more 1 button macro spam with weaving Arcane. You'll need to weave in Stings and Kill Command too which I really like.
As for Arcane being a tad OP, well I'm agreeing with you 100%.
That being said, I keen Tranq on my bars hot keyed so having to shift a shot to Dispel is still going to be easysauce for me.
 
Yeah, dispelling something should be a tactical decision rather than just part of your regular facerolling. For shammies for eg, many people think Purge is op but consider it does zero damage, has crap range, a hefty mana cost AND consumes a GCD.
 
Dispel is the same. Dragonhawk eats my man bar when I'm spamming Dispel on the person tanking the birdies.
