My parents live in a double storey house. As a consequence, there is no ceiling for the lower storey and they can't easily run cabling to connect things.

So when my father wanted to make DSTV available in a second room, he bought these little gizmos from Ellies: https://www.ellies.co.za/product/hi-tech-stereo-av-sender/

They basically connect to the decoder output and then do a normal analogue transmission. A receiver connects to the second TV. This works (you can watch TV in another room) but is awful: The signal pops and scratches and degrades whenever the microwave is on or even when people move around in the house.

This may have been a reasonable 2004 solution, but I reckon the 2018 solution should do the same thing over WiFi. At the very least, a digital signal with error correction should play back at much higher quality.

Is anyone aware of a product like that?

I used one, found them too open to interference

That's bad news, although I wonder if it could be as bad as those Ellies products. Do you remember what brand etc?
It was years ago but I had that exact ellies one as I didn't (and don't) have wiring to my room. If I worked into my room with the cell phone the TV was unwatchable

Oh yes. That's exactly the problem. I am looking for a WiFi option, because you'll never get away from those issues with an analogue solution.
