Streaming Device for Andriod TV

I am not sure why I have problems, it is not even plugged directly into the tv, but uses the extension cable.

I don't know either, started with a 4K Fire TV stick, from when they came out, which my Daughter took over, and died last month. She bought another. I replaced it with the Fire TV 4K MAX, and later bought a Xiaomi 4K Mi 4K stick which is in the lounge, and gets hammered from when my wife gets home, till late at night. It is almost 2 years old, no issues, loadshedding what ever. They just keep on working. Had my Shield TV Pro for 3 years. Newest addition is a Mi-Box S 2nd Gen also no issues.

Per my takealot records, I purchased my first one on the 18 June 2021. It worked well in the beginning. Good enough for me to buy another one. Then it started to give problems. Funnily, the newer one gave me problems first.

I will probably buy two tv boxes. But dont want pay so much for Nvidia Shield.

Yeah rather spend +-R2k on 2 TV sticks that break after 2 and a bit years.

The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example. ... A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.[4]

I am a big fan of the Netogy Nova and always suggest people buy it.
I am personally using a Fire TV 4K Max (because I am in the UK) and its the best Android TV device I have ever used. Its fast, supports pretty much everything (AV1, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are the big ones for me).

I started out with the Ematic AGT-419 in 2021, enjoyed using it, then upgraded to a Xiaomi MiBox 2 (2nd Gen) in August last year, but although it had Google TV as it's OS, was limiting in features - no LAN port, only 1 USB port, only 8GB RAM & no SD card expansion - so I sold it to a friend in October and got a Netogy Nova (both purchased on special at HiFi Corp for R 999) and I am very happy with the additional connectivity & storage features (16 GB RAM, 2 x USB ports & SD card support), better functionality & increased performance of the Nova so far.

P.S. - the Nova also has a LAN port, in addition to Wi-Fi & Bluetooth.

No experience with either the Emantic or Nova boxes, tho see no reason to not use them, the Nova, probably the better of the two devices.

Thanks for the heads up.

The Nova also has AV1 support. It was something that was at the top of the list of requirements when it was being planned.

All of the wifi based devices really need a strong signal.

My Mi TV Stick (used with old 1080p bedroom TV) always struggled until I installed new Reyee access points in the house.

I would not recommend this Android TV Box since it does not have an onboard ethernet port.
With IPTV, fast becoming available in many homes, an ethernet port (IMHO) is a definite must have when considering buying a TV Box.
IPTV just seems to struggle way too much on, even a good, WiFi connection.

Personally, I would much rather opt for the Ematic.
PS: I've been using mine for a few years woth no hassles at all.
That ethernet port has been a lifesaver!!!

PPS: There are cheaper TV Boxes available and they all do the same thing.
The Ematic does, however, have a better build qualty compared to the other cheaper boxes. It also comes with a very sturdy voice activated remote which uses bluetooth to communicate with the TV Box.
PPPS: Bluetooth trumps IR as you dont have to point the remote to the TV Box...

Ematic Android TV Box on TakeAlot

There is an official Google Plug that provides power and ethernet for the Google TV donge.
