Hi. Any recommendation for a good streaming device for a Skyworth Android 4K TV.

The streaming device will need to support the following apps: Netflix, Prime, Dstv and IPTV.

Cheers

Personally I use the google one and have zero complaints, some say that the Shield is better, a lot more pricier though.

I would not recommend this Android TV Box since it does not have an onboard ethernet port.
With IPTV, fast becoming available in many homes, an ethernet port (IMHO) is a definite must have when considering buying a TV Box.
IPTV just seems to struggle way too much on, even a good, WiFi connection.

Personally, I would much rather opt for the Ematic.
PS: I've been using mine for a few years woth no hassles at all.
That ethernet port has been a lifesaver!!!

PPS: There are cheaper TV Boxes available and they all do the same thing.
The Ematic does, however, have a better build qualty compared to the other cheaper boxes. It also comes with a very sturdy voice activated remote which uses bluetooth to communicate with the TV Box.
PPPS: Bluetooth trumps IR as you dont have to point the remote to the TV Box...

The ematics got superseded by the Nova box https://www.takealot.com/nova-android-tv-box-4k-ultra-hd-google-and-netflix-certified/PLID90906310. IPTV buffering on Wifi is because IPTV sucks though.

You can connect a usb to ethernet adapter on the xiaomi box as long as the adapter has a AX88179 chipset.

What's wrong with the android TV..I have the 55 inch version and am quite happy

My Shield TV Pro 2019, works a real treat. No issues with a Xiaomi 4K Mi TV streaming stick or the Mi-Box S 2nd Gen. Fire TV 4K MAX stick is out, as you need DSTV.

My two mi sticks (non 4k), tend to hang when hot. We now unplug them after use.

It also requires the disabling of a lot of apps.

Would not go for a stick type of player again, even though it is hidden away. Will rather go for a beefy media box.

Been using, a Fire TV 4K MAX stick, and a Xiaomi 4K Mi 4K TV Stick for a few years now, no issues. The Xiaomi Mi 4K TV Stick, runs 8-10 hours a day, everyday without a hiccup. Fire TV stick ( Original version ) does not get used that hard, but also not given any issues

I am a big fan of the Netogy Nova and always suggest people buy it.
I am personally using a Fire TV 4K Max (because I am in the UK) and its the best Android TV device I have ever used. Its fast, supports pretty much everything (AV1, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are the big ones for me).

Only issue for locals, is the Fire TV 4K MAX or any other Fire TV device, is they don't support DSTV/Showmax, as they are not Google certified.

But they work well, as far as I am concerned.

Yeah, that is the only issue.
Are you not able to sideload the APK (if you managed to get hold of it)?

Nope - a few years ago, if was possible to for a hack, to load the Google Play Store, on the Fire TV devices, to run DSTV/Showmax but they "fixed" that, an have not found another way, other than to run the DSTV/Showmax plug-ins in Kodi, on Fire TV devices. Believe that still works, but it has been awhile since I have had a DSTV login to test with.

I am not sure why I have problems, it is not even plugged directly into the tv, but uses the extension cable.
