Hi guys, does anyone know where to buy or rent HDR titles for streaming over an LG OLED? I am looking for Blade Runner 2049, and tried the Google Play Movies version (which has an app for WebOS on the LG) but although I got a 4K stream, there was no HDR embedded. Google doesn't have much info on HDR but it seems like HDR streams aren't available outside the US for some reason...

Thanks.

Takealot and Raru sell UHD HDR Blu-ray's.

For streaming iTunes has a decent collection of HDR titles, you would need to plug your PC into your TV or get an Apple TV 4K box.

Netflix and Amazon Prime

Apple TV. :)

Or just procure it alternatively.

I’m a big fan of the Apple TV. Love the up next part. Let’s me know when my fav shows are ready to stream.

What I don’t like is that iTunes doesn’t get many Disney movies in 4K.

Many of those sources are either not available here, or else don't offer HDR. Amazon only streams in HD. Blade runner is on Netflix, but not in SA. Vudu not available here either... The Netflix hdr shows are frikken amazing and I basically can't go back to sdr.

I'm really more interested in anyone's experience with HDR through Google play. iTunes also offers HDR streams too, but it's just not available as an app on the LG WebOS.. Buying more hardware, read Apple tv etc, is not really the solution I'm after...

Edit: I haven't looked at Fandango - will check that out, thanks.

Use getflix /smart dns or vpn for the region blockers.

Go with a Roku or amazon fire stick for hardware as they are relative cheap.

That is bizarre since they are very good friends with Disney.

But it probably has to do with the ongoing deal with Netflix that will fall away.

We sad folk in ****hole counties don't get the TV app though. Or rather if you make the region hop it's a bit useless.

Heh? Amazon Prime definitely does 4K HDR. Grand Tour is full of it.

But my LG OLED is coming next week so then I can maybe give you more definitive answers.

Could very well be a setting you are getting wrong? Which mode are you running it in? Try the Day / Night Pro modes right at the bottom as HDR should be on for damn sure on them.

Sorry no Blade Runner on SA Netflix. Thought just looking for HDR material in general.... But if using VPN or DNS proxy can watch on alternative catalogues....

Yup, Grand Tour, American Gods, Man in the High Castle etc all in 4k HDR..... granted I am using a Samsung but see no reason why the LG Amazon app wouldn't support it.

My bad. Totally correct. Blade Runner, however, is only offered in HD!!! Not even 4K.

I convinced a friend to watch Blade Runner in HDR with me on this fancy new TV and now I can't get it in any simple way.

So, what I am trying to figure out is what options there are for a smart TV to rent or buy HDR content (other than that available on Netflix), in HD or 4K, that doesn't involve additional boxes or having to use a vpn.

I'm going to phone Google Play support to find out more about why HDR isn't supplied here. Will update if I find out anything useful. In the meantime though, Netflix Dolby Vision for the f****n win. It's mind-blowing.

Hear you. Remember reading somewhere Google Play still not offering 4k option globally and even where they do mainly on TVs running Android while HDR is only via the Chromecast Ultra. Last (or first for some) resort would be a torrent download.....10gb -50gb files avail online depending on quality requirements for Blade Runner.

If you are going to rent or buy anyway why not just get the UHD Bluray?
