Streaming HDR

For sure.

Suspect OP has a settings issue maybe.

I don't have a UHD Blu Ray player, and don't really want to buy one. Settings on the TV are definitely not a problem though. On the LG that has to do with HDMI inputs though, and the LG automatically detects HDR metadata in a stream and switches profiles.

Not on all colour profiles.

And even then it can still be disabled and overridden.

Have you ever seen it work on anything ?

Is it on the latest firmware?

Yup. I've been watching a lot of Dolby Vision HDR on Netflix and also running HDR out of my grading system via HDMI. Like I said, settings are definitely not an issue - either Google Play doesn't support HDR streaming outside the US, or I cocked something up with my order there. Thanks for the advice though - these TVs are complex and it's easy to overlook/misunderstand many of the settings.

Then affirmative procurement might be your only option.

In my view region jumping is akin to piracy.

So you might as well just pirate.

If nobody wants to sell it to you, then nobody deserves your money.

You're right, and that's a ridiculous problem to have. I've unsubscribed from the various DNS services I needed to run Spotify, Netflix etc, and I'm done with all that admin.

Anyway, found the following on the Play Movies support page which explains my issue: HDR playback is currently not available on Android TV, but is available with Chromecast Ultra.

Eish.
