Ok I installed TVersity to stream avi’s to my XBOX from a vista laptop. After fiddling for a while and installing the latest (0.9.10) and following the online help carefully I got it working… well sort of. I can see the files on the xbox but only stream a few ( plus its dam slow and the quality isn’t all there) so now I can stream some music vids but none of the things I want to stream. When I open up the movie file the screen goes black for a while then it exits back to play screen. And after a few unsuccessful attempts the xbox says that it cannot play that type of media and then I have to restart the server before it will attempt to play again.
All the files work 100% on media player 11.
Does anyone have any advise or a better solution than that?
And y doesn’t Microsoft just let us play avis like on the old xbox did and copy some vids and music to the drive without having to always stream.

Try Orb or VLC. Personally I don't have a lot of PC based media, but apparently those are quite popular.

VLC works but is not without its problems. I also use Transcode 360 if I run into any problems with VLC. Good luck.

ye i installed transcode 360... it didnt work at all :( it wouldnt even uninstall

I used transcode 360 for vista together with the vista codec pack and it works 100%. Strange that if you downloaded the correct version of transcode 360 it would not install on your laptop:eek:
