I'm putting this under MTN cause I'm with MTN.

I have a little app that streams live TV to my cellphone over 3G. I was wondering if anyone knows how much bandwidth this app uses?

Currently have the following channels on my E90
- Fashion TV
- CNN
- Sky News
- Bloomberg
- Sailing

AFAIK, 3g should stream at roughly 1MB/Minute, i am not sure what the exact network criteria is for this, but that is more or less what i use when i stream

It really depends on the encoding of the streamed channels. As we all know
3G will max out at 384kbps (theoretical) and the time you spend watching.

So... say I watched at the airport for 10 minutes while bored... how much will I loose?

At full 384kbps you will use:

384kbps/8 = 48KB/s
48KB/s X 60 = 2880KB/min = ±3Mb/min
3Mb/min X 10 = 30 Mb

Damn...quite a lot then... I should monitor it to check.

I suppose I could've worked it out... but my calculator finger is sore. :p

It doesnt work on my phone, it times out on the connection

There seems to be a server problem this morning, hasn't worked for me either today, I had to sit and listen to a whole two hour meeting... I could have been watching FasionTV.

The nice thing is it works over Wifi.
