I was thinking is it illegal to stream tv shows other than download using torrents ? As l don't want to use P2P torrents as I know that is totally illegal.

I would say this is a grey area. But i am no lawyer.

You are not uploading/distributing anything so I can not see why streaming would be illegal in SA.

So it is better to stream rather than using torrents in a legal point of view even if you're not a lawyer

Netflix and Showmax are perfectly legal.

But they don't have the tv shows that I'm watching even if I got Netflix

The major problem I have , is that US Netflix has much more series than SA Netflix and we pay the same .

I don't have a problem with anyone using a service like UnoTelly to access georestricted paid streaming content. At the end of the day, the content producers are being paid by you and at a price that they set.

Something like BBC iPlayer is a different story. Viewers pay via their UK TV license fee. Streaming through UnoTelly essentially steals bandwidth from the BBC. I feel guilty about it, and wish that they would offer a standalone paid streaming service instead of their beleaguered iPlayer service.

With that said, ShowMax seems like really good value. When they offer 1080p I'll probably sign up.

Beleaguered?
