ok guys, one of the reasons for upgrading to 4mbit was to stream without the video having to buffer every 10sec or so like it did on my 384k line.. totally killed the video.

So anyway i thought 4mbit surely couldn't suffer the same symptoms.. looks like i was mistaken... youtube and streetfire stream just the same regardless of my line..:(

Anyone else experiencing these symptoms ?

Im with telkom.. SAIX acc

Yup, another example of our fantastic Telkom bunch. How dare you to watch video instead of browsing?

On a serious note, my experience is exactly the same as yours. The same applies to even basic sound streaming.

Microsoft told us on Tuesday that they cache their video streams at 18 different places in the world to ensure an optimum experience, however it is impossible to watch their videos at http://silverlight.net/, because of higher quality, it rebuffers indefinitely.

It used to work for me - no buffering on youtube (using Verizon unshaped) - it now buffers. Speeds are down to under 500kbps on my 4mbps account. It's just not capable of anything decent
I blame Telkom.

But you're on Verizon?

But you're on Verizon?

Surely you understand, Bwana, that our general lack of bandwidth is not primarily Verizon's fault?

Between me and anything, there is still a telkom exchange for starters.

And why would Verizon AND Telkom suddenly crawl... on local AND international... who's to blame for that?

Whoever accepts my money gets their share of the blame too.

A easy test might be one of WA's unshaped accounts - run a session on one machine via saix unshaped and another on another machine using verizon and voila - instant comparison. Traceroutes should be able to highlight the bottlenecks.
