Looking for a make of good quality spray paint to use on the exterior of a vehicle.

My old jeep is developing surface rust on some on the frame work under the hood so I'm looking for something strong that I can use after giving the parts a good sanding.

You need to look at a good etch primer first and foremost and then paint. As with everything you need good prep work and a solid foundation.

You will need heat resistant paint any where near the engine. Normal spray paint will eventually peel off.

Many good brands of rattle can spray paint are self etching.

If you intend to mix your own paint and use a spray gun(compressed air), apply a primer first. Use many thin coats rather than thick ones.

This is one thing I will NEVER attempt myself. Take it to a spray shop.

It's turned into my project car and it's not body work, just things like wiper blade arms and some brackets that hold on bumpers and things. The paint has already peeled off and surface rust has started to develop so I'm just looking to sand away the rust and give the bare metal a protective coat
